Where Highlights is, and what's in it
It's the third of the four tabs at the bottom — Screenshots, Search, Highlights, Settings. Open it and you'll see two sections: "Weekly Recap" up top, with this week's recap and a link into past weeks; and "My Highlights" below, with Year in Review and Quotes.
Weekly recap: a chance to look back every week
The system generates one automatically for each calendar week, rolling up everything you kept that week into a single recap — no need to manually scroll back through your album to see what you screenshotted. There's no need to set aside dedicated time to "organize this week" — the recap builds itself in the background, and all you have to do is open it and take a look. If you didn't take many screenshots that week, the recap stays correspondingly short; it won't pad itself out with unrelated content just to hit a length.
The past-recaps view lets you flip back through earlier weeks too — it's effectively an archive kept week by week, not a one-time notification that vanishes once you've seen it. When you want to recall roughly what you were doing or looking at during some stretch of time, flipping through past recaps is faster than going through your photo library matching dates one by one.
Year in Review: a year of screenshots turned into a yearly summary
This rolls up a full year of screenshot data into a year-level summary, answering a question you'd rarely stop to think about otherwise: "what have I actually been looking at this year?" You don't have to wait until year-end to see it — open it at any point and you're looking at a running total from the start of the year through right now, which keeps updating as time goes on, far more direct than scrolling your photo library all the way back to January.
Quotes: OCR excerpts collected without any extra effort
If you've configured AI, the system pulls lines worth keeping straight out of your screenshots' OCR text and collects them into the Quotes list — these are excerpts of the original text, not something AI has rewritten. Whether the source is a paragraph from an article, a single line from a chat log, or a notes app screenshot, any line worth excerpting can end up in the Quotes list as long as it's genuinely there in the original text. This one specifically relies on AI to do the excerpting — without AI configured, the Quotes list stays empty. It's the one part of Highlights that explicitly needs AI to function, unlike the basic weekly and yearly recaps.
Everything exports as a shareable image
The weekly recap, Year in Review, and Quotes can all be exported with one tap into a 1080×1350 card image, in your choice of three visual styles — Minimal, Dark, or Gradient. That aspect ratio matches the vertical image format common across mainstream social platforms, so once exported it's ready to share directly — no screenshotting and stitching things together or adjusting the ratio yourself.
For content to make it into a Highlights recap in the first place, it needs to have been properly filed away rather than scattered across your photo library — organizing and looking back are really two ends of the same thing.
