Get the to-dos to appear first
Import screenshots that contain tasks into ScreenNote. With AI on (official AI or your own API key), it extracts to-dos, deadlines or owners that are explicitly in the screenshot and puts them under To-dos in the Categories tab. It does not invent tasks from guesses. To-dos are grouped by due date, can be checked off, edited, and tapped to jump back to the source screenshot.
Add one to Apple Reminders or Calendar
- Open Categories and go to To-dos.
- Tap the bell on an item and choose Reminders or Calendar.
- The first time, iOS asks for permission. Once allowed, the item is written, and it shows as added afterwards.
A system reminder is only created when you choose to. ScreenNote does not read your existing reminders or calendar.
New in 2.5.0: timed reminders
For things with a date, such as a show, meeting, flight or deadline, and for due to-dos not yet in Reminders, the app can notify you at 9 PM the night before. If that moment has passed, it notifies you at 9 AM the same day. Tap the notification to open that note.
- Off by default. The app asks once when Now Useful first appears on the home screen, and only requests notification permission if you tap Turn on. You can also switch it in Settings, under Preferences.
- Cancel one at a time. Touch and hold an item in Now Useful and choose to skip the reminder.
- It follows the note. Delete or archive a note, or mark a to-do done, and its reminder is cancelled.
- At most 3 a day. You will not be flooded.
Current limits
Date parsing mostly understands Chinese phrasing and yyyy-MM-dd. Dates in screenshots in other languages rarely trigger a timed reminder, though text recognition and search are unaffected. To-do extraction needs AI, so with AI off no new to-dos appear on their own.
FAQ
Will adding a reminder read my other reminders?
No. A system reminder is only created when you choose to add one from a to-do, and the permission prompt appears at that moment.
Is the timed reminder switched on by default?
No, it is off by default. The app asks once when Now Useful first appears on the home screen, and notifications are requested only if you turn it on. You can switch it on or off in Settings at any time.
Does it work for dates in non-Chinese screenshots?
At the moment date parsing mostly understands Chinese and yyyy-MM-dd formats, so dates in other languages rarely trigger a timed reminder.
